||Join us for a guided paddle on the scenic Black River on July 6. The Black River begins in southern Sampson County and empties into the Cape Fear River 14 miles south of Wilmington. The Black River is largely unspoiled, and has large underground aquifers that constantly recharge it with fresh water. The river has a black surface that is created by the tannins from the cypress trees bordering the river.
The paddle is 7.6 miles total; we will paddle about an hour and a half, approximately 3 miles, before taking out alongside the river to set up camp, enjoy a nice bonfire, and good ol' American fare and craft beer. The menu will be a mix of American foods from various cities across the country. After refueling the following morning we will paddle the rest of the way.
