Marino on Money: July 23

This week I am talking about adoption. Here is a brief review:

Adoption costs can vary from $0 up to tens of thousands. Adopting a child who is in foster care is usually the least expensive. Foreign adoptions are usually the most expensive.

There is plenty of help for people who want to adopt. The government offers multiple tax credits, assuming you do not make too much money. Employers may also offer help. Many families just finance the cost.

Most of all, you should be prepared to work. Adoption is not always easy, but it is worth it. There are many toddlers or older children who want to be adopted. Providing a home for them is a great way to change the world. So I hope you consider that.

For new born babies, adopting can be hard. You must understand there is no such thing as an unwanted baby. There are families all over this town, and all over America, who would adopt a new born baby today. They don’t care about the sex, and they don’t care about the race of the baby. They just want to adopt.

I’ve heard people say that there are all these unwanted babies being born. I can promise you, that is not true. There are homes everywhere who would welcome a new born baby through adoption. So if you want to adopt a new born baby, understand that it may take some time.

If you have a financial question for Ross, you can use the Marino on Money page.
