Former WWAY station manager passes at age 85

A former member of the WWAY family has died.

Charles Dayton Martin Jr. was a station manager at WWAY for several years in the 1980’s. He was a big part of the Wilmington media; serving in leadership roles at WMFD Radio and WECT TV before coming to WWAY.

He lived in Wilmington for most of his life, and served in the Army during World War II.

Funeral services for Mr. Martin take place Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in downtown Wilmington.

Mr. Martin was 85 years old.
