Practicing cell phone courtesy

When we are out in public, often times the cell phone becomes the “yell” phone. It did not take long to find people who agree.

“I’m a dental hygienist for a local dentist and often times people will not turn their phones off, and will continue having conversations when they come into our treatment rooms,” said Catherine Royal.

Paul Brown of Java dog said, “It’s very frustrating because a lot of people will come up in line on the cell phone and you’re trying to move a line along, there’s people behind.”

To the 270 million Americans who use a cell phone, this month is for you. July has been named National Cell Phone Courtesy Month.

We love having stylish ring tones, but if you think you might be bothering the people helping you or around you, consider switching your cell to vibrate or silent.

“Finish what’s important first, whether it’s placing your order or finishing your phone conversation,” added Brown.

When you’re in the movie theatre or out to eat, silence your calls and let them go to voicemail. It sounds obvious, but it doesn’t hurt to have a conscience reminder.
