RALEIGH, N.C. — President Barack Obama has arrived in North Carolina.

Air Force One landed shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport as Obama prepared for a town hall event at Broughton High School in Raleigh.

The event will focus on Obama’s plan to overhaul the nation’s health care system. He’s trying to persuade the public to support his proposals and trying to convince Congress to pass sweeping changes this year.

Obama will leave after the Raleigh event to attend a similar town hall in Bristol, Va. He visited Camp Lejeune in February, when he talked about his plans to withdraw troops from Iraq.

WWAY’s Kevin Wuzzardo is in Raleigh and will have the latest on President Obama’s visit to the Tar Heel State during tonight’s newscast.
