Whats Happening: August 14-16
The weekend gets off to a rocking start with Night Prowler, the AC/DC tribute band. They are performing at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series. The concert is free and starts at 5:30 p.m.
If you are in the mood for theater, don’t miss Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man. It wraps up this weekend at Brunswick Community College’s Odell Williamson Auditorium. Performances Friday and Saturday night are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the show starts at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are 15 dollars for adults, ten for students and six dollars for children under twelve.
You can ease on down the road or Highway 17, and catch The Wiz. The musical premieres this weekend at Thalian Hall. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are fifteen dollars.
Want to do something without spending any money? Check out Moore’s Creek National Battlefield. This weekend, the entrance fee to all national parks is waived. You can learn more about the battle and how it helped influence the 13 colonies to declare independence on July 4th, 1776. Moore’s Creek is located in Currie and opens at 9:00 a.m.
Are you looking for some handcrafted art? Head to downtown Wilmington Saturday afternoon for Sunday Scene, the city’s arts and crafts fair. It runs from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Riverfront Park.
