Louisiana native Rebecca Wells hit the big time with “Little Altars Everywhere” (1992) and launched into orbit with its sequel, “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” (1996), which became a New York Times best seller, morphed into a movie (filmed partly in Wilmington) and inspired dozens of nationwide chapters of Ya-Ya Clubs.
