NC governor gets flu shot to get state to prepare
RALEIGH — Gov. Bev Perdue says everyone in North Carolina should get prepared for flu season, and she’s starting with her office.
Perdue will get her flu shot Tuesday, along with 10 members of her cabinet.
State health officials recommend everyone get a regular flu shot now and then get a special shot to protect against swine flu when the vaccine becomes available later this year.
As of last week, North Carolina reported nine deaths and 193 people hospitalized with swine flu this year.
Health officials worry the disease will spread faster now with schools and colleges back in session and the weather turning cooler.
