Help strike out breast cancer at a Bowling for a Cure tournament Saturday at Cardinal Lanes Beach Bowl in Ogden. It is from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. A four person team is $100. Call 319-7129 for more information.
Saturday, coastal hounds will walk the town. Two legged and four legged participants can walk the track at Shallotte Middle School to raise money for Carolina Canines, an organization that trains service dogs. Atkinson celebrates its one hundred anniversary. The festival begins at 9:00 a.m. with an opening ceremony. At 7:00 p.m. enjoy a BBQ chicken or pork dinner for $8.
The Rocky Point Harvest Festival Parade is Saturday. It begins at 10:00 a.m. on Highway 210 West. A baseball game follows the festival at 2:00 p.m.
There will be some fun for your four legged friend Saturday at the 16th Annual Bark in the Park at Wrighstville Beach Park. The Canine Disc Championships competition begins at 11:00 a.m. Admission is free.
The National Alliance for Mental Illness is holding its Seventh Annual Walk for Awareness at Hugh MacRae Park Saturday. The walk starts at 10:00 a.m. The registration fee is $15 for adults.
It is a birthday celebration for a place near and dear to the hearts of many children. Wilmington Parent Magazine and the Children’s Museum turn twelve. A party takes place Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Kids get in free with an adult admission.
There is a World War II party Saturday to honor veterans. It is from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Calabash VFW Post 7288 on Carter Drive. Enjoy dinner, music and share war stories.
Pleasure Island is all about some seafood and music this weekend. The 16th Annual Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival is Saturday and Sunday at the Fort Fisher Military Recreation Area in Kure Beach. Two day tickets are $30 in advance. Gates open at 11:00 a.m.
Home plate is where the heart is. Sunday, Wilmington Cardiology is holding its first Physicians vs. Staff softball game at Veteran’s Park in Wilmington. It starts at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 each. Proceeds go to the American Heart Association.
