GREENSBORO, N.C. — A North Carolina college takes stock of the history and future of black activism.

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro on Friday explores the century since the NAACP was created to work for civil and economic rights. The event is open to the public.

African American Studies program director Tara Green said the conference will urge attendees to think about where the black community is now and where it should be going.

A poet and scholar of blues and black culture is the featured speaker. University of Kansas professor Anthony Bolden will talk about the lack of change in what he calls the Age of Entertainment.
