New law not applied evenly to private school kindergartners

As a kindergartner, 5-year-old Jackson Reynolds can read second-grade chapter books, add and subtract. But when he went with his mother to sign up for first grade at Bellamy Elementary his mother was told he’d have to enter kindergarten first. Then, two weeks into the year, he would be tested to see if he was ready for first grade.
