Brunswick officials consider a break in utility fee structure

Brunswick County property owners who don’t want to connect to utility lines on their roads might be relieved of paying the availability fees.<br>After a public hearing Tuesday night, the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will consider eliminating the monthly $11 water availability fee and the $18-per-month sewer availability fee.

Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting Saturday evening that they say might be gang-related.<br>Friends drove a 28-year-old man to the hospital after he’d been shot in a parking lot at 3016 Princess Place Drive, according to a statement from Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.

A man accidentally fired a gun through the wall of his apartment and into his neighbor’s bedroom Saturday morning, police said.<br>The man was headed to a gun show, thought his weapon wasn’t loaded, and pulled the trigger, according to a statement from Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.

One person was taken to the hospital Sunday night after being stabbed in the 500 block of North Seventh Street, Wilmington police said.<br>Cpl. J. Kunak said he didn’t know the extent of the person’s injuries. He also said he didn’t have information about whether police had any suspects.
