Wilmington man shoots wife, turns gun on himself

A domestic dispute escalated to violence Saturday when a Wilmington man shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself in Pender County. According to the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, after a verbal fight the man shot his wife, then shot and killed himself at 5500 New Savannah Road at 1:49 p.m.

Update: Suspect returns to armed robbery scene, holds gun to clerk’s head

A man who attempted to rob a convenience store Friday, then returned and held a gun to a clerk’s head, simply wanted to be deported to Mexico, according to a New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office release.

Some CFCC students’ credit cards have been exposed

People who paid Cape Fear Community College with a credit or debit card might have had their card numbers exposed, said Camellia Rice, vice president of business services at CFCC. The payment company which processes debit and credit card payments for CFCC announced Wednesday that its system was breached.

Haley the cat pretty much has the run of the place at Davis Health Care Center. The orange shorthair regularly holds court on his favorite sofa in the library of the skilled nursing facility off Porters Neck Road.

Here Now: Ogden family lives green lifestyle outside waste stream

No garbage collectors come to Danielle Richardet’s roomy suburban house in the Ogden area. Her family of five used to fill up a 95-gallon trash can most weeks. Now, just once a month, her husband, Aaron, carries a 34-gallon trash bin to his chiropractic business and empties it. The family recycles and composts the rest.
