Carrying a red flag bisected with a diagonal black bar - the flag of her native Trinidad and Tobago - Lisa Hamilton gazed and smiled at the people applauding as she and dozens of volunteers walked around the basketball court at Trask Coliseum Sunday. But the event wasn’t an off-season basketball game.

Wilmington | A woman accidentally knocked over a lit candle, causing a fire to break out Sunday afternoon in her apartment.The Wilmington Fire Department responded to the apartment fire in building 5022 of Colonial Parke Apartments on Hunt Club Road, off New Centre Drive, just after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Bolivia | A fugitive who was apprehended in Belize, Central America, was brought back to Brunswick County and will be sentenced Monday morning for convictions of statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
