Wilmington man charged with firearm, drug offenses after police chase

Wilmington | A 35-year-old Wilmington man charged with firearm, drug and traffic offenses was in the New Hanover County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond Sunday after a six-block-long police chase Saturday night.

Armed man robs house at 1500 block of Kennedy Plaza

Wilmington | A man with a gun robbed two people Saturday evening in a house in the 1500 block of Kennedy Plaza, according to a Wilmington Police Department release.The incident, reported at 5:48 p.m., began when a man knocked on the door of the house and asked for the victim’s nephew.

New Hanover County | Calls about ice-related crashes were coming in to New Hanover County 911 so fast Saturday evening that dispatchers were sending a steady stream of e-mail messages to N.C. Highway Patrol troopers instead of calling them on the radio.

San Rio development in Shallotte being resurrected

After sitting lifeless for more than a year, the San Rio development in Shallotte is being resurrected. Workers have paved the entrance to the subdivision, and the court-appointed real estate firm now in charge of the project expects to award the contract for the sewer work this week.
