“Peak” of Atlantic Hurricane Season approaching
Southeastern NC will likely experience beautiful weather for most of the Labor Day weekend, but other areas are not so lucky. A potential tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico may bring heavy rain from the Texas coast to Alabama coast. Once the system moves over land, it will likely weaken and merge with a cold front. The combined system may bring heavy rain to North Carolina next week.
Elsewhere, "Katia" will likely stay over open water without making a US landfall. Still a few "indirect" effects (heavy surf and rip currents) will be possible along the East Coast by the end of the weekend.
Remember, September 10 marks the peak of Atlantic Hurricane Season. You can always see the latest tropical updates at Hurricanes 101
