45-minute bridge cycle could last through Labor Day
Raising and lowering the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge could continue to take 45 minutes through Labor Day, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation."We’re still troubleshooting," said Trevor Carroll, the DOT’s division bridge maintenance engineer.After the bridge was stuck in the up position for more than an hour Wednesday afternoon, the bridge had to go to an auxiliary system. Because of that, the time needed to open and close the bridge jumped from 15 minutes to 45.
