Maria will miss the Carolinas later this week
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Maria is now the only storm we’re watching in the Atlantic. So far, the system has been a very disorganized one – although that may change soon.
Maria is expected to undergo some strengthening as she moves into more favorable waters over the next few days. Most importantly though, a trough moving off the East Coast on Tuesday will begin to steer the storm northward.
Much like Hurricane Katia, Maria will head north and then northeast staying far off the East Coast of the US. For us, that will mean an increased risk of rip current at the beachs – but no wind or rain effects.
