Murder suspect’s brother arrested in Creekwood killing
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A second man has been arrested for a murder last week in the Creekwood community. Wilmington Police say Jermaine Hankins, 21, turned himself in yesterday. He is charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and first degree burglary. Investigators say he had been on the run for several days.
Police say 19-year-old Jonathan Jones Jr. of Jacksonville died during a shooting at 1005 North 30th Street Sept. 14. They say a group of men chased him and 24-year-old Joseph Edwards Hanible of Wilmington into the house and shot both. Hanible was was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. No word on his condition.
Jermaine Hankins had his first appearance in court this morning. He was already on the court calendar for today on several drug charges. He was issued a $2 million secured bond.
