Bladen County holds Ag day for third graders
BLADEN COUNTY (WWAY) — Dozens of Bladen County third graders got a chance to learn outside of the classroom today.
Ag’em up day gave students an opportunity to get hands-on while exploring different aspects of agriculture. Seven different stations were set up, which included lessons on cotton, soil, and swine just to name a few.
Teachers say the event gave their third graders an understanding on how important agriculture is in Bladen County. “It also opens them up to what’s available here in Bladen County because they’re learning that blueberries are the main crop and they learn about the soil and the air and what they can crop and about the animals that are raised here.”
The instructors for Ag’em up day, where students themselves from both East and West Bladen high. As for the third graders, they said it was very cool to see and touch the baby pigs.
