21st year for Run the River Race in downtown Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While many were sleeping in after Saturday’s Riverfestivities, some decided to get there Sunday morning started off with a run through downtown Wilmington.
Sunday marked the 21st year for the 8K Run the River Race. The course ran through downtown Wilmington, along the riverfront and over bridges. About one hundred runners participated ranging from experienced racers to occasional joggers.
“I went to Riverfest yesterday and it was awesome,” said Valerie Stinson, who ran in the race. “It just feels really good out here and it’s such a beautiful day. The energy is really good and high. I just love fall in Wilmington. It was a nice race.”
The race started and ended next to the Cape Fear Community College parking lot near the PPD parking deck.
