City schedules meeting on downtown sign rules
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In the wake of public outcry over an ordinance restricting signs at downtown businesses, the City of Wilmington has called a public meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27, 6-8 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
A news release from City Manager Sterling Cheatham says the city is asking for help and input to improve downtown sign regulations. The public is invited.
The release says anyone interested is encouraged to attend to:
·Increase your understanding of the city’s policy regarding signs and fliers in windows;
·Discuss and provide input about alternatives to the city’s policy regarding signs and flyers in windows;
·Help identify ways the city can better communicate with downtown stakeholders in the future.
