Memorial set for community leader Betty Ann Sanders
WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW NEWS RELEASE) — A memorial service for community leader and UNC Wilmington volunteer Betty Ann Sanders will be held on the UNCW campus at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 in McNeill Hall (School of Nursing building) auditorium.
The service is open to the community and will be followed by a reception in McNeill Hall Multipurpose Room, room 1051.
Sanders, who died Tuesday afternoon in Wilmington, was a veteran broadcaster and familiar face on UNCW-TV shows “Let’s Talk” and “Let’s Read” as well as a long-time university supporter and volunteer. She served on several university boards, including the UNCW Board of Visitors from 1998 to 2007 and the Nurse Advocate Board.

Sanders founded, owned and operated Adult Day Services (formerly Coastal Adult Day Care), with her daughter Jennifer Riker and son-in-law Rick Riker. It is a local day health center for patients with severe autism, Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
