Teens take parents’ Volvo, may be headed to Tennessee

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says five teenagers missing from Brunswick and Columbus Counties may be headed to Tennessee.

Deputies say Matthew Brett Miles and Katlin Marie Tennant, both 14 of Leland, are possibly with Christa Smith, Amber Yurgel and Kaitlyn Pagget, all 13 of Columbus County.

Investigators say Tennant took her parents’ olive green 2008 Volvo with NC plate RWP-9142. A Facebook message said they were going to take a joy ride to Tennessee.

The Sheriff’s Office says at about 4:30 a.m. the Volvo ran out of gas in Lumberton around US 75 and I-95. A motorist assisted the teens by putting gas in the vehicle.

The only ties known to Tennessee is that Miles’s family vacationed in Gatlinburg a year ago.

Anyone with information should call the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
