FIRST ON 3: Strickland moved to prison closer to home

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Allen “Frog” Strickland, who was sentenced to seven months in prison for vandalizing former Sen. R.C. Soles’s home and office, has been moved to a facility closer to home.

He had originally been sent to the Western Youth Institution in Morgantown, according to the Department of Corrections website. He was moved Wednesday to the Bladen Correctional Center in Elizabethtown.

A Department of Corrections spokesperson says the Western Youth Institution is an intake facility where inmates are usually sent until a permanent place can be found for them. The spokesperson says inmates are typically sent to a prison closest to their home.

When we asked who signed off on the transfer, the spokesperson said that was confidential and he could not release the information.
