STORMTRACK 3: Deadly storms cross through the Carolinas

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY)– An approaching cold front produced severe weather across the state Wednesday, including some here in the News Channel 3 viewing area. Strong winds downed trees in Robeson county, and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for several counties. Winds gusted over 40 mph at times along the coast.

The impact of this system was much more tragic inland. So far, 4 fatalities have been reported from Georgia to North Carolina. In all, there were 16 reports of tornadoes from Alabama to North Carolina Wednesday.

Additional showers/storms will be possible through early Thursday, but these will remain below severe levels. Skies will clear and temperatures will fall by Thursday afternoon.

You can always see the latest watches/warnings from WWAY on Facebook and Twitter.
