UNCW enjoys ‘Wagsgiving’ feast

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Thanksgiving got an early start today at UNC Wilmington’s annual “Wagsgiving” feast.

Students lined up early to get a taste of the 1,700 pounds of turkey, hundreds of pounds of mashed potatoes and stuffing and 500 pies.

“Wagsgiving” is named in honor of the holiday and wagoner dining hall.

Buzz across campus begins months in advance for what students call the “hands down, best meal of the year.”

“Basically they serve us Thanksgiving food that I think is so worth waiting in line in the cold for,” UNCW student Kaylan Lebrija said. “It’s so good. It’s very comforting. It’s very good food. It’s really really worth it.”

More than 60 campus dining employees will serve more than 4,000 students, faculty and staff.
