Wedding planners play big role in pulling off the perfect wedding
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s considered one of the biggest days in a woman’s life. The magical day when she walks down the aisle to her groom. Being newly-engaged, I’m learning just what it takes to pull off the perfect wedding and the help that many brides turn to.
We all remember it. Kate Middleton and her prince, the perfect picture of bridal bliss. Her wonderfully tailored dress and show-stopping decor. Romance was tangible that day. But what we didn’t see was the work that went into pulling it off and the stress the bride may have been experiencing.
As a bride-to-be myself, I’m learning the devil is in the details. From invitations to decorations to the cake and not to mention party favors. oh and the bring-your-groom-to-tears dress. It’s a heart palpitating, head-spinning and pulse raising task! That’s where a planner comes in.
Courtney Thomas Arnold, owner of Stellar Events, has mastered the art of wedding planning. Arnold’s main goal is to take away the bride’s stress. She does that by getting a good idea of the bride’s vision for the day.
“I really want to look at what can you afford, your personality, who is going to suit you the best, who are you going to have the most fun working with and also get the best product for the best price,” Arnold said.
Wedding planning is a growing industry. That’s why Cape Fear Community College is now offering a class on planning that perfect day.
“The highlights of this class teaches wedding planners and brides of how to get all the details of what they want into their wedding, how to take the vision they have in their minds and create it in real life form,” class instructor Ron Topping said.
Melissa Roberts says she’s learning a lot in the class. “I’m really interested in the industry and I thought this class would be a great avenue for me to dip my feet in and see how it goes,” Roberts said.
But something a newcomer may not expect is when plans change.
“When a bride will change one detail it has a domino effect,” Arnold said. So that’s where I get to come in and if the bride wants to change something, I have to meet with and speak with every vendor to make sure we’re all back on the same page.”
Details, details! I’m learning it’s important to focus on the positives.
Arnold reminds brides, “At the end of the day, you’re going to have a beautiful wedding, you’re marrying the person you lpve and that you want to spend the rest of your life with, and that’s what this is about.”
