Highway Patrol searching for driver involved in hit and run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The N.C. Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and seriously injured a man on the southbound side of Carolina Beach Road last night.

Trooper Phillips says that a 22-year-old male was struck sometime between 11:16 and 11:54 last night while crossing Carolina Beach Road near Monkey Junction Storage. The victim was wearing a royal blue long sleeve pullover. Highway Patrol says the victim is currently on life support at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. His name has not been released.

Highway Patrol is looking for a 1995 Chevrolet pickup, Tahoe, or suburban with damage to the front right side.

They say that they are hoping that with so many shoppers out last night, someone saw something.

Anyone with information is urged to call Trooper Phillips at (910) 392-3918 or 1-800-334-7411.
