Ex-NC high court justice Orr joins law firm
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — A former North Carolina Supreme Court justice and 2008 Republican candidate for governor is heading to a
well-known law firm in the state after leaving a conservative-leaning legal group earlier this month.
The Poyner Spruill firm announced Monday that Bob Orr would join its Raleigh office, practicing in general litigation and advocating on legislative and regulatory matters.
The 65-year-old Orr left the Supreme Court in 2004 and became the founding executive director of the North Carolina Institute for Constitutional Law, which challenged in court taxpayer-funded incentives and other matters. He left briefly to run unsuccessfully for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.
Orr is also a former judge on the state Court of Appeals.
