Brunswick Co. man guilty of indecent exposure again
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man has pleaded guilty to indecent exposure, a crime he’s committed before.
The District Attorney’s office says Benjamin Stroup Korb, 48, of Holden Beach, entered the plea Monday afternoon in to two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure. It stems from an incident in Holden Beach in August 2010.
Assistant District Attorney Meredith Everhart said in court during the plea that Korb was inside his home, which backs up to the waterway, when he intentionally took his pants off and exposed his private parts to two young girls who were playing in the public waterway and could see him through the window in his home.
At the time, Korb was already on unsupervised probation for a previous conviction of indecent exposure in Holden Beach in 2009. He also has another conviction for indecent exposure from Guilford County in 2002. Everhart said that if the case had gone to trial, the witnesses from the previous cases, as well as witnesses from other similar but uncharged incidents of indecent exposure involving Korb would have been called to testify.
Judge Jack Hooks placed Korb on supervised probation for two years in this case and ordered him to have no contact with the victims or their families and to undergo a psychosexual examination and follow any recommended treatment.
The DA’s office says both victims and their families were in court for the plea, and they provided written statements presented to the judge, but they did not say anything in court.
