CFCC culinary students serve up sweet holiday treats
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and as the semester wraps up at Cape Fear Community College, culinary students are celebrating with a special holiday treat.
The annual Holiday Pastry and Confections Open House was a hit with visitors who got a taste of what the culinary students at have been working on all semester. From cakes, to cookies and everything in between, visitors were able to fill their plates with the sweet treats that students prepared, plated and passed out.
Students say this event is the culmination of all their hard work over the course of the semester.
“One of the greatest joys of the cook is being able to share his craft with others, so when we are able to interact with the community, it really gives us a sense of accomplishment, and we’re able to interact with guests, find out what their response is, how much they like it,” student Joshua Shipman said. “Just a lot of fun for everyone involved. Both the workers and the guests who get to try the treats.”
Guests were able to try as many treats as they wanted, all leaving full and satisfied.
Donations from guests will help the Culinary Club go to the National Food Show in Chicago.
