Shoppers still searching for deals after Black Friday sales

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With the largest turnout of Black Friday shoppers this year, many storeowners are hopeful the economy is taking a turn for the better. We wanted to know this Friday how stores were doing.

With an impressive turn out over the Black Friday shopping weekend, Try Sports workers say their store has seen a slightly slower week.

“I think some people are still recovering from Black Friday,” said Try Sport store owner Adam Rose. “But they are in the mode for holiday and the Christmas shopping season now.”

Rose says he’s hoping some of the sale tactics displayed on Black Friday, like big discounts, will continue to attract customers throughout the shopping season.

“Hopefully we made an impression on them on Black Friday, to see that we had specials,” said Rose. “And know they know they can come back and get them through the month of December.”

Shoppers say they are attracted to deals and are more likely to buy something if they feel like they scored a good price.

“Deals definitely entice me,” said shopper Jeff Smith. “And I like seeing deals broadcast so I know what I’m looking for.”

Smith says he thinks customers are more savvy than before so they can get more for their money.

“Budget is obviously a major issue in households these days with the economy the way it is so I think people like to be prepared,” said Smith. “I think shoppers are a little more conscious these days and the best deals are usually going to attract more people. Better opportunity.”

Rose says he plans to keep running promotions to get shoppers to spend more and get what they want. He says he thinks giving is the reason for the season and he hopes he can help his customers find what they need.
