Henderson sheriff won’t talk about private life
HENDERSONVILLE, NC (AP) — The attorney for Henderson County Sheriff Rick Davis says his client won’t talk about his private life or discuss possible legal settlements involving employees.
Davis said Nov. 23 he would be away from the job for treatment of a mental health condition.
His attorney on Monday responded to county commissioners who asked about any possible legal settlement the sheriff or his office made with an employee. There have been allegations Davis engaged in inappropriate behavior with a female employee.
Commissioners say Davis should return to work immediately or take a formal leave of absence.
Joseph McGuire said late Monday afternoon that Davis would not talk about his private life.
Commission chairman Thomas Thompson says the panel only knows the county has paid an insurance deductible for a claim against Davis.
