FIRST ON 3: Christmas break-ins target UNCW financial aid, athletic ticket offices
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Stealing a page from Dr. Seuss, it looks a like a Grinch targeted UNC Wilmington Christmas day.
UNCW Police say someone broke into Trask Coliseum and the Warwick Center over the weekend. Investigators believe it happened Sunday during the day. An officer making routine rounds discovered the crimes Christmas night.
Police say they do not believe anything was physically stolen from the Warwick Center, but they say the burglar or burglars broke into the Financial Aid and Student Accounts offices. Police say the crook rummaged through information in the Financial Aid office.
At Trask, police say the thief got into the ticket office and stole $900 in cash.
No word on if any financial or personal records may have been compromised.
