STORMTRACK 3: Severe weather threat exits offshore
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As a powerful cold front moves offshore, our threat for severe weather quickly diminishes.
A strong storm system covered the Carolinas today throughout the afternoon hours, bringing extremely gusty winds, some power outages and even a Tornado Warning to the area.
The Tornado warning was issued around 12:30 p.m. for a possible waterspout that was close to coming ashore in Oak Island and Caswell Beach. There has not been any confirmation of a tornado touchdown at this time.
This system moved quickly, speeding across the area at around 50 mph.
Skies will clear rapidly as we head into the night, and temperatures will drop drastically tomorrow.
Gusty winds will stick with us throughout tonight, and tomorrow will still be breezy.
