State Auditor Beth Wood seeking re-election
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — State Auditor Beth Wood says she will seek a second four-year term running North Carolina’s government watchdog agency.
Wood announced her re-election bid Tuesday. The certified public accountant says she fulfilled her plan to improve audit efficiency and quality in her first term and wants to continue those goals if she wins statewide election in November.
Wood said the State Auditor’s Office has identified $248 million in waste and potential revenues since she took office in early 2009 and has identified poor contracting practices by state agencies.
The Democrat defeated incumbent Republican Auditor Les Merritt in 2008.
