Perdue trying to lure jobs to Brunswick County
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Gov. Bev Perdue’s administration is trying to attract an unidentified company to invest in Brunswick County and bring what could be 1,100 jobs to southeastern North Carolina.
Perdue said over the weekend she planned to have breakfast Monday with company executives at the Executive Mansion and travel to the region later in the day. The Democratic governor told reporters she delayed her scheduled annual vacation for the visit.
A Perdue spokesman confirmed Monday the Democratic governor discussed economic development matters at a mansion breakfast but declined to identify the interested company.
Brunswick County was where Continental Tire considered building a plant and hiring more than 1,000 workers before announcing in October it was going to South Carolina instead.
