Pantano campaign running low on cash
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — He is no stranger to a fight and battled Mike McIntyre unsuccessful for a seat in Congress in 2010.
Now one poll shows Ilario Pantano running a strong race, while financial filings show his weakness.
Recent FEC reports show Ilario Pantano with just under nine thousand dollars while his opponent David Rouzer has twenty times that amount.
Pantano reacts, “A lot of our support has stayed with us, we have eleven thousand contributors and we have been getting a lot of small donations but folks have been burnt out because we ran hard and came up short last time but also the presidential elections is going on the governors election is going on but now as we get close we have this great polin news we know folks are going to be coming back with us.”
While facing a big deficit financially, Pantano feels this is the race for the Seventh Congressional seat.
“There is a sense that whoever wins the republican nomination for the Seventh District is going to become the next member of Congress and that’s a function of how the lines were redrawn and as a result it’s not competitive any more for a democrat.”
Stay tuned it promises to be an interesting political year in a state where politics are always competitive.
Pantano feels the Governor’s announcement not to run for re-election will make things even more frantic for the top states race and that will trickle down to other races.
