FIRST ON 3: Five-year-old allegedly raped by classmate at school

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says it has received reports of a sexual assault involving students at an elementary school. Capt. David Nobles says there are conflicting reports, but that the alleged victim and the alleged attacker are both five years old.

The incident allegedly took place at Tabor City Elementary on February 7. Capt. Nobles says the allegations have been referred to the Department of Social Services, because under state law a child under six cannot be help criminally liable.

Columbus County Schools Superintendent Alan Faulk has not yet returned our call for comment.
