Work on lines could shut off water in parts of downtown Tuesday
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some homes and businesses in downtown Wilmington could be without water tomorrow. CFPUA crews will repair a water main break.
If you live near Orange and 2nd Streets you may have little to no water. The repairs are scheduled for tomorrow between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Some businesses say they may have to close if they lose water completely.
“If we didn’t have water, we couldn’t flush toilets, we couldn’t wash our hand, we couldn’t clean the facility. We’d close,” said Rick Wilson, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Wilmington.
All lanes of traffic will be detoured around the intersection of Orange and 2nd during construction. For safety reasons, if your water service is interrupted, CFPUA recommends boiling it before consuming.
Tomorrow night there could be a loss of water pressure or service along North 3rd Street. Crews will switch service to a new line between 6:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Customers in both areas affected by work on the water lines are encouraged to boil their water before using it.
