Arrest sought for Adam Baker, who’s out of US
LENOIR, N.C. (AP) – Authorities in Caldwell County have issued
an order for the arrest of Adam Baker to face pending charges,
although he returned to Australia more than a month ago.
The Hickory Daily Record reports that Baker was scheduled to
appear in court Monday for failure to return rental property. When
Baker’s case was called, attorney Shell Pierce said he had been in
contact with the Australian Consulate as well as immigration
officials and assured the court that Baker was in Australia. Baker
left the U.S. on Jan. 19.
The district attorney’s office said it would not drop the
Baker was the father of 10-year-old Zahra Baker, the disabled
girl who was murdered by her stepmother. Last year, Elisa Baker
pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Zahra’s death.
