Poll: Wilmington most popular city in NC

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — They like us. They really like us. A new poll shows voters in North Carolina view Wilmington as the Tar Heel State’s most popular city.

According to the poll by Raleigh-based Public Policy Polling, 67 percent of voters have a favorable view of the Port City, while only four percent have a negative opinion of Wilmington. Raleigh also has a 67-percent favorability rating, but the Capital City is viewed negatively by 11 percent of North Carolina voters.

Raleigh is the top city in the state with Democrats at 73/10, while Wilmington is the top city with Republicans at 65/2.

On the other end of the spectrum are Fayetteville and Durham. Fayetteville was the only city had a higher negative rating (30 percent) than positive (29 percent). Durham came in as the next least-liked city at 38/29. that actually has a negative favorability, at 29/30. Durham is on only narrowly positive ground at 38/29.
