Business owners worry about Oleander closure
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Part of one of Wilmington’s most traveled roads will be closed for construction work this week. Starting Monday, Oleander Drive will be shut down between Mimosa Place and Dawson Street.
The Department of Transportation and CSX will be working on the railroad tracks in that area causing the closure.
David Goodson, owner of the Greenfield Xchange antique store, says the closure will make for a tough week.
“Traffic is critical here for our business because we depend on strictly traffic flow,” said Goodson. “We have repeat business but if they’ve got to go out of their way to get here it’s going to really effect our bottom line.”
The DOT has signs up to make drivers aware of the change. They are advising eastbound and westbound travelers to use Shipyard Boulevard instead.
That section of Oleander drive is expected to reopen Thursday night around 11 pm.
