New Hanover Co. man arrested for kidnapping and domestic abuse
NEW HANOVER CO., NC (NEWS RELEASE) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Gary Lewis Dailey II for 2nd Degree Kidnapping and Domestic Abuse.
Deputies responded to 714 Briar Creek Way Apt 101, Sunday at approximately 11:30 am for assault on a female and kidnapping with the suspect detained.
According to the report Dailey and the mother of his children got into an argument Sunday morning. The victim stated that during the argument Dailey grabbed her face, choked her and bound her hands with cords. At one point the victim fled the house, followed by Dailey carrying their 11 month old in his arms as her attempted to restrain her and drag her back into the house.
An off duty Wilmington Police Office, noticed the altercation announced himself and presented his badge and was able to convince Dailey to give the child to the victim. Dailey then returned to the house placing their two daughters, a six and seven year old, into his vehicle and drove up to the victim where he attempted to persuade her to get into the vehicle.
At this point Deputies arrived on scene and detained Dailey. Dailey was arrested and transported to the New Hanover County Detention Facility and charged with 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Assault on Female, Resist, Obstruct, Delay Public Officer, Child Abuse, and Exposing Children to Fire. His was given no bond.
