NC races set slates for jobs with economic impact

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – North Carolina voters face lots of choices in primary elections for statewide Council of State offices.

Next month’s elections include the Republican race for Secretary of State between Kenn Gardner, Mike Beitler, A.J. Daoud and Ed Goodwin. The Republicans seeking to become state auditor are Rudy Wright, Joseph Hank DeBragga, Greg Dority, Debra Goldman and Fern Shubert.

Former Labor Commissioner John Brooks, Ty Richardson and Marlowe Foster are Democrats who want to challenge incumbent Republican Cherie Berry.

Treasurer Janet Cowell faces a primary challenge from Ron Elmer. Frank Roche and Steve Royal meet on the Republican side.

State Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler faces a Republican challenge from Bill McManus. Democrats Scott Bryant and Walter Smith meet.

Republicans Mike Causey, James McCall and Richard Morgan are running for insurance commissioner.
