Wilmington looks to Hall of Famer Ripken to lead ballpark project
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It looks like Wilmington City Council knows who it wants to lead its ballpark plan. The agenda for Tuesday night’s City Council meeting includes two ordinances to hire and pay Ripken Design of Baltimore, MD.
One ordinance would award Ripken Design, which is owned and operated by Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and his brother Bill, a contract for “Baseball Project Management Services.” The other would move $55,000 to to the city’s Capital Project Fund to pay for the company.
According to Ripken Design’s website, the company provides expertise including feasibility studies, ballpark design and facility management.
