Azalea Art Show puts Wilmington talent on display
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington has a wealth of artists, many of whom get to showcase their talent at the 30th Annual Azalea Festival Juried Art Show and Sale.
This year’s show includes more than 130 pieces of art by more than 90 different artists. Both photos and paintings were submitted. Internationally-acclaimed artist Lois Griffel judged the paintings and said Wilmington’s art community is full of amazing talent.
“The city is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous,” Griffel said. “The quality in here was remarkably good. I have judged a lot of shows, and I’ve been in a lot of shows. Obviously the art scene here is incredibly active.”
The paintings depicted scenes of beach life, nature and downtown Wilmington among other subjects. The show and sale continue tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Saint James Episcopal Church downtown.
