Controlled burn to cut out fuel to Pine Valley fire, heavy smoke expected
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department and NC Forestry will do a controlled burn around 11:00 a.m. to help cut down fuel to the wildfire in Pine Valley.
Crews will burn about a half acre of unburned area inside the containment lines from yesterday’s fire. WFD says the area continues to ignite, and the best solution is to burn this fuel while adequate resources are on scene.
It will produce a large amount of smoke for a short period.
