OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Lightning strikes are responsible for at least three fires in Oak Island overnight.
The Oak Island Fire Department tells us that one of the structure fires is a vacation home and is a total loss for the homeowners.
The fire broke out around 11:00 p.m. last night at 6903 West Beach Drive when neighbors called dispatch to report smoke coming from the house.
No one was there at the time of the fire, and no nearby structures were effected. The Oak Island Fire Department says the homeowners are being notified by their realty company.
There were also two other weather-related fires in Oak Island last night. One was at 118 Southeast 7th Street, and another at 7501 East Beach Drive.
